No existían todavía seres humanos sobre la tierra cuando los hijos de Bor (Odín, Hoener y Loder) paseaban a orillas del mar.
Encontraron allí dos árboles (Fresno y Olmo) y de ellos formaron la primer pareja humana (hombre y mujer).
Odín les dió vida y espíritu, Hoener razonamiento y movimiento, y Loder sangre, oído, vista y una bella tez.
Llamaron al hombre Ask y a la mujer Embla.
La pareja recién creada recibió de los dioses, "Midgard" como morada; y de Ask y Embla ha descendido toda la familia humana.
En la creación del hombre, la divinidad aparece bajo la forma de una trinidad.
Los tres dioses Odín, Hœnir y Loki, crearon la primera pareja humana, y cada uno les otorgó un Don que correspondía a su propia naturaleza.
Odín (oend, espíritu) les dio el espíritu, la vida espiritual.
Hoener (luz) ilumina el alma de la inteligencia (odr).
Loder (fuego) les da sangre caliente y la tez roja, al mismo tiempo que la ardiente sutilidad de los sentidos.
Es evidente que los hermanos de Odín son emanaciones de su Ser; proceden de él y solamente representan diferentes fases del mismo poder divino.
In Norse Mythology, Ask and Embla were the first two humans created by the Gods.
The pair are attested in the Poetic Edda, compiled in the 13th century from earlier traditional sources, and the Prose Edda, written in the 13th century by Snorri Sturluson.
After Odin and his two brothers Ve and Vili had created the universe and the nine worlds, they walked on the beach where they came upon two logs of wood which were washed ashore.
They picked the logs up and give them a humanoid shape. Odin breathed into them the spirit of live, Vili gave them sharp wits and feeling hearts; and Ve bestowed upon them the senses, expressive features and speech.
Furthermore, the brothers provided them with names and clothes.
The male they named Ask ("ash") and the female the named Embla ("elm").
Ask and Embla became the progenitors of the human race and Midgard was given to them as their residence.
The Names Ask and Embla come, as you can see to the left hand side of this page, from Norse Mythology and is the equivalent to Adam and Eve.
